Production (FAQ)
COFFEE
Our coffees are generally light/medium roasted. We import the highest quality green beans and roast them to ensure each coffee's unique character is highlighted. Except for the Espresso Blend, all our coffees are single origin.
We don't add any extra flavors to our coffee. Except for flavored Turkish coffees, we roast filter coffees and espressos to different profiles, and we use tasting notes to determine the unique character of each coffee. Please don't be alarmed if you don't detect the strawberry, red plum, or cocoa flavors listed on the label while drinking your coffee. Your own taste determines the flavors. These are tasting notes, not aromas.
We recommend purchasing filter and espresso coffees in whole beans. You can select the grind setting based on your machine on our website. We'd like to remind you that ground coffee goes stale quickly, so if you purchase ground coffee, we recommend consuming it as soon as possible.
When using your coffee, store it in an airtight, dry place. The best way to store coffee (in beans, not ground) is in a well-ventilated coffee jar in a dark, dry place. If you don't have such a container, you can easily store it in the packaging you received before and after use. We recommend not storing it in the refrigerator or cooler. Moisture on the beans every time you remove the coffee from the cooler will lead to unwanted mold growth and spoilage.
However, this also changes the taste of the coffee. So when choosing storage (like a pickle jar), choose a location away from foods and spices with strong odors and tastes, which can also alter the taste of your coffee.
They're packaged fresh! You can keep your coffee beans unopened for up to 120 days from the roasting date, but once opened, they should be consumed within 2-4 weeks for best results. Our new packaging offers the best storage option. You can find the roasting date on the side of the packaging and adjust your schedule accordingly.
Like other products, coffee is seasonal! Our coffee menus may change seasonally and with the seasons. Because we source the freshest and best coffee from the best farms that season, you might not see a coffee on our shelves again for a year. But don't worry, there's always something better coming!
Most of our coffee comes directly from the farm to the Netherlands. We place great importance on coffee imports. Our approach to coffee sourcing is called Direct Trade, which means we maintain direct contact with our coffee suppliers. While some of our coffees are certified organic or not, pesticides are rarely used by the producers we work with. While they may need to be used in exceptional circumstances, many farms are located in fertile soil and therefore do not require them. Small (micro) farms, despite their organic production, often avoid the hassle of obtaining certification due to the expensive nature of the process. We state this on the packaging of coffees that are certified organic. Our coffees are not Kosher. However, our coffees never come into contact with any other food product during processing, roasting, or packaging. Furthermore, no flavoring agents are added to our coffees. Our coffees are not genetically modified. Our coffees are comprised of varieties such as "heirloom, bourbon, caturra, and catuai" and their sub-branches, all of which have been cultivated by farmers for years. When sourcing coffee, we consider the availability of both Arabica varieties and traditional agricultural processing methods.
All of our coffees are gluten-free. We do not add any gluten products to the roasting process. However, we cannot guarantee that the coffee will not produce gluten at any time during the process of reaching us.
We've spoken with our coffee supplier team and coffee experts, and we're confident we won't have any issues. However, 1543KURUKAHVE still doesn't have a Gluten-Free Certificate.
